Davida Cashmere is a high-quality cashmere brand. It carries the name of the founders’ great-grandmother Davida. She lived by the aphorism “Simplicity is beautiful” - a saying that lives on within the brand. The brand’s collections serve an authentic purpose to the conscious individual. They deliver long-lasting cashmere pieces from generation to generation.

Cloud Nine, a Storyblok Partner, built Davida’s new online store. Cloud Nine is a web and eCommerce agency with services in the Nordic region. They are experts in designing and developing digital services.

The goal was to build a modern composable eCommerce solution with a special focus on a modular design system. Storyblok's intuitive interface and modular design system allow the editors at Davida to build sophisticated pages with a breeze.

The new website was launched in October 2022 and saw a 55% increase in conversion rate. Also, the new website experienced great improvements in search engine visibility. According to SISTRIX Visibility Index, the new site ranks between 8-10x better. The new website also saw an increase in Average Order Value (AOV) of 38%, as well as up to 52% increase in site speed.

The challenge of telling the story behind Davida's brand

The journey began in 2021 when Centra, a Storyblok Technology Partner, introduced Cloud Nine and Davida. Davida and Cloud Nine had an immediate connection. That helped set the groundwork for achieving Davida’s main objectives:

  • International expansion
  • Personalization
  • Import-export functionalities
  • Creative freedom
  • A user-friendly and flexible way to manage content

Davida wanted to be able to build with many languages and currencies. Before moving to the new technology stack, they had to have many sites to meet this need. Davida also wanted to deliver personalized experiences to their visitors where they could easily switch between offerings. They needed a solution that would allow them to manage their product inventory with ease. But, they also needed the freedom to express their creativity and tell the story behind the brand.

Davida, who were using Nordisk E-handel as their eCommerce platform, had difficulty telling the story behind the brand, the product, and the production. Davida’s content is planned and produced in-house. Thus, their very content-driven team lacked the creative freedom to tell their story. Also, Davida wanted to be able to build and update pages by themselves instead of having to rely on developers. So, they wanted a user-friendly and flexible content management system (CMS). A CMS that would work well with their eCommerce platform.

Cloud Nine, who had, until that point, worked with solutions like Umbarco, Contentful, and Prismic, were now introduced to Storyblok. Centa, who made the intro, had seen the execution of very successful projects with the combination of Storyblok and Centra.

When I first came across Storyblok, about 2.5 years ago, I remember being impressed by the CMS’s data modeling capabilities. Most importantly, I was impressed by the ability to preview the final outlook of the site before going live with the help of the Visual Editor. It’s a game changer for delivering exceptional UX.

Today, Storyblok's intuitive interface and modular design system allow the editors at Davida to build sophisticated pages with a breeze. Cloud Nine built a custom Storyblok plugin that lets the editor pick products from their eCommerce solution Centra. That way, it's easy and convenient for the editor to create product blocks with dynamically loaded product content. Storyblok is also being utilized to tell the story about the brand, product, production, materials, etc.

Today, Storyblok is also one of Cloud Nine’s most important partners and we are eager to continue building successful projects with their team of experts.

The combination of Storyblok and Centra is a success. It allows for an easy and convenient way for editors to create product blocks with dynamically loaded product content. Even though this was the first time Cloud Nine used the two technologies together, the project is, to this date, one of the most successful applications.
